Wilmer Smith

Widow seeks information about husband

Widow seeks

information about husband

It's been years since I've tried to get any information I could pertaining to my husband, who was killed in action in World War II. However, my grandson got me some information of the battle off the Internet.

That's how I got this address for donations.

My husband was Wilmer A. Smith. He was on a mission to prevent an enemy attack in the vicinity of Honsfeld, Murringen, Hunningen, Belgium. After the attack it was revealed he was missing in action. I was a wisow at 19 years old. You know you don't get over such a shock like that so young.

Anyway, what I am asking: Do you know anyone who might enlighten me about that battle and maybe perhaps they would remember him. He was a medic attached to the 394th Infantry, 99th Division.

I am on a limited income, but please accept this small donation toward erecting a plaque for the Checkerboard Division who so bravely fought and gave their lives for our country.
