Widow seeks squad members
Widow seeks squad members My husband, John C. Overman Jr., died Jan. 20, 1999. He was with the 99th from its beginning at Camp Van Dorn MS. He was a staff sergeant, wounded Jan. 28, 1945, near Hofen, Germany. His wounds were serious and he never got to go back with his unit, I/395. I've often wondered what happened to his squad. I remember some of the names — Leon Rogers, Paul Putty, Piersall. A lot of his squad came from the ASTP. I remember him saying how smart they were. I enjoy reading the paper.
