Virgil H. Roth, D/394

I am seeking information about my father, Pfc. Virgil H. Roth, who served with Third Platoon, Company D, 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division.

He was from the Flint MI area, had a wife, and three children. He would have been 26 when he was killed in action April 10, 1945, in the Ruhr Pocket battles.

He fought in the Bulge and across the Ludendorff at Remagen.

Oberespe is near Pettenberg and is located in the hills on the Espe Creek about 45 miles east/northeast of Cologne and Dortmund is 25 miles south. The directions were given to me by Ralf Klodt. I've also received help from Judy Vinegar, William McMurdie, B.C. Henderson, and Gregg Farrell (webmaster 788th DVA).

I'd appreciate any information I could find on my father. I thank all the members of the 99th for their service to this country.
