RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Vernon Swanson, C/395, died on June 25, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Vern has been a member of the Association for more than 30 years, having served as Vice President, a member of the Board of Directors, an original member of the Checkerboard Chorus, and was in line of succession to the presidency of the Association; and
WHEREAS, Vern has been active in the Association's Missing in Action (MIA) Program, and for more than 13 years has incurred travel and related expenses of $10,000, without reimbursement, and has spent countless hours in the Association's recovery program of 12 MIAs, including Jack Beckwith, to whose parents Vern pledged to recover the remains of their son;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors this 21st day of July, 2006.
That the Board expresses its deep sympathy to the family of Vernon Swanson on their loss; that it also expresses its sincere appreciation to the family for Vern's services, devotion and contribution to the success of the Association; that the Board recommends the adoption of this resolution by the membership of the Association at its Annual Meeting on this 57th Annual Convention of the Association; that this resolution be presented to the family of Vernon Swanson; that a copy of this Resolution be published in the next issue of the Checkerboard.
