Spotter airplanes information updated

As you know, I was in the air observation section of the 371st FA Bn. at Bullingen, Belgium.

There is some mistaken information in recent issues about who flew the planes out of Bullingen.

Staff Sergeant Marion Perrick, from Kansas, flew one of the planes to Spa. Also the major (name deleted) left his plane at the landing strip in Bullingen.

The major received the Silver Star for leading our convoy out of Bullingen. He left us on our own and we found him in the next town.

Cpls. Charles Simmons, Ralph Desin, and myself received the Bronze Star for preparing the planes for take-off under enemy fire that Dec. 17 morning.

Sgt. Pappy Miles

Richmond VA

Editor's Note: I was there that morning to see the airplanes take off, and I'll bet Pappy has the correct information.
