Son researches father's military past
I need help. My dad was in the infantry during World War II and received the Purple Heart. His records were destroyed in the fire in the St. Louis Military Personnel Record Center.
I have a picture of him in his uniform with patches and awards. One of the patches resembles a Checkerboard. Can you refer me to someone who can help me pick up some of the pieces of my father's military past?
