Smollon story printed in Kapers

Smollon story

printed in Kapers

Every veteran has a story. Many tell theirs. Most don't. And the Ol' Editor strives to get them all in print (even his own) for future generations.

That's been the main function of the Checkerboard and is an important goal of tours of veterans returning to Europe. An attempt is made to get veterans to open up. Sometimes they do.

Editor B.O. Wilkins Jr., does a great job publishing the K393 Kapers. A recent edition carried the story of Frank Smollon, how he fought and was captured by the Germans.

Frank's story about the "magnificent seven" appeared in an earlier Checkerboard. Perhaps more can be published later.
