Sam locates friend

Sam Lombardo was a lieutenant in I/394 while serving in the 99th. Pfc. John Kuhn was a member of K/394. They were hit by the same massive German offensive on Dec. 16, 1944. Now, decades later, the two men met at Carlisle PA. Lombardo is a retired lieutenant and Kuhn, a retired clergyman, lives nearby. A story in the newspaper united the pair, after Lombardo noticed that Kuhn had been in the 99th. He called. They met and had a great time getting acquainted. Though the men had gone through combat side-by-side, they never met until this year.
