Relative requests unit history

Relative requests unit history

I have frequented your webpage many times for information about the 99th Division and their many battles in ETO. My wife's grandfather, Alvin P. Laiche of St. Amant LA, was a member of a heavy machine-gun outfit in the 99th. I'm not sure what unit in particular, but I do know from the material he has kept over the years that he fought around the northern shoulder of the Bulge.

Sadly, Mr. Laiche died Oct. 8. He was a good man and will be sadly missed. He never liked to talk about his days in combat in the Ardennes Forest, for obvious reasons. It's a shame he could not pass some of those experiences on to the younger generations so they could see the sacrifices that were made on their behalf.

If you could pass this letter on to the veterans of your network who fought bravely in Belgium and Germany for the 99th, maybe someone would recognize his name and reply with some comments about his unit's history. I would like to correspond with them for his family's sake. They would like to know more about his service to his country.
