Quinn recognized
Robert H. Quinn, M/393, was awarded the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross Nov. 17, 2003. The state's highest military decoration, Quinn received the cross for his combat actions with the 99th Infantry Division leading up to the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.
The award was presented by New York Senator James Alesi. Quinn previously had been awarded the Bronze Star for the same combat operations.
Quinn's son, Robert Quinn Jr., a Vietnam veteran, and his grandson, Rob Quinn III, a graduate student at the State University at Albany, attended the ceremony with him.
Grandson Rob completed a term paper for a history course this past semester about his grandfather, the 99th Division, and the Battle of the Bulge. He appreciated help from the veterans of the 99th who called and wrote to him to share their own experiences of December 1944. He received an "A" for the paper and his grandfather and father were proud.
