Piddlehinton organist dies
Piddlehinton organist dies Geoff Lord who many will remember as the organist in the church at Piddlehinton, died Dec. 11, 2000. According to his wife, Fay, he became ill after playing Dec. 3 at a church service. He was transferred to the Southampton Neurological Centre and it was discovered he had a bleeding aneurysm. Doctors operated, but he suffered a stroke and never recovered. Villagers were stunned and saddened at his death. He was well-liked and the church overflowed with mourners during his funeral service. Herman and Viola Weiss of LaGrange TX, had been guests for tea in the Lord home during a recent battlefield tour, and sent information to the Checkerboard about his death.
