New members help keep association alive

My dues for beginning membership in the 99th Infantry Division Association are enclosed. My dad, Donald W. Reed, served in Service Company, 393rd. he was with the Battle Babies at Van Dorn, Maxie, to the end.

I grew up reading the Checkerboard and heard many - I'm sure not all - of the 99th's stories from my dad and many of the friends who came to visit in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Many of those guys were from the Pennsylvania-Ohio region where we lived then. Several were from our immediate area, which was Zelienople PA.

A retired USAF officer, I joined the association to help keep alive the memory of this valorous division and her brave men who gave everything for us Americans who are free today.

My mother, Roberta Reed, has maintained her membership since Dad died in 1988. Please keep this great association going!
