New member asks about Estel Harris

I recently sent a check to join the association and receive the Checkerboard. I am happy to be an associate member of the 99th.

We have a unit of the 99th here in Cross Lanes WV, near my home. I talk with some of the men frequently.

I hope you can help me through your newspaper and website to locate someone who might know anything about my brother. His name was Sgt. Estel O. Harris. He took basic training with the 99th at Camp Van Dorn, Camp Shelby MS, and Camp Maxey TX. When they were still in the States he was with Battery B, 370 FA Bn. I don't know if this changed after he went to Germany. I know he was a cook. I was only a small child at that time but I knew he was in the Battle of the Bulge.

After his discharge in 1945, he enrolled in woodworking and lost three fingers on his left hand. He then went into the grocery business. He was killed in November 1947, in an auto accident.
