Member suggests convention sites

Thank you for printing the Humphrey material. It is very well done, in my opinion. I look forward to the next printing of wartime with the 99th.

I have some suggestions for the next 99th Infantry Division annual convention. Have the annual conventions in the middle of the country. Three suggestions are Kansas City, Omaha NE, or Des Moines IA.

Why?

Travel time would be less for many of the troops. Costs would be less.

Omaha NE, is headquarters for SAC. A tour could probably be arranged. As with Kansas City, the airport is a hub for many airlines. And for those traveling by automobile, Interstate highways pass through all of these cities.

Kansas City was a choice many years ago, and everything went very well.

Des Moines IA — Hey, if you selected Des Moines, you could time it with the annual Iowa State Fair, which is considered to be a unique and interesting event. As you know, Des Moines is the capital of the state. You could write to the Iowa Tourist Department for detailed information.

If Omaha is selected, a tour could go to Sioux City IA, where the Lewis and Clark Expedition journeyed. It is the gravesite of Sergeant Floyd, a member of the expedition, as you know.
