McMurdies are authors of books
Bill and Jean McMurdie were at the 99th convention held in Northern Kentucky this past summer. Both were authors of recently published books.
On Oct. 3, this fall, Bill died from sudden cardiac arrest, which seldom leaves survivors.
They had been scheduled to go on the Battlefield Tour (postponed until May due to the terrorist attacks).

Her book, "Land of the Morning," is about her experience of being captured by the Japanese, in the Philippines, during World War II.
Bill's book, "Hey Mac," previously reviewed in the Checkerboard, is about his experiences in A/394.
