John David Roy

I am trying to locate anyone who may remember serving with my father, Private John David Roy (probably called Dave) who served in the 393rd Infantry Regiment, 99th Division. I believe he was in Company G, 2nd Battalion.

He was killed March 16, 1945, near Forarth, Germany. On Feb. 24, 1945, my father was among those of the 393rd awarded the Combat Infantry Badge.

I also would like to learn anything about the activities of the 393rd from their arrival in Europe until my father's death. Why, for example, was he awarded the Combat Infantry Badge; that is, in what combat was the 393rd engaged in January-February 1945.
