Hoyt Wilhelm book is planned
My name is Rick Barrick. I am a full-time journalist and a member of the Society for American Baseball Research.
I'm working on a book about Hoyt Wilhelm, the National Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher. Wilhelm served in the 99th Infantry Division, 395th Regiment, 2nd Battalion, H Company during World War II. I'm hoping to track down soldiers who knew him at Van Dorn and Camp Maxey and those who were with him at the Battle of the Bulge.
Two members of the 99th Division Association — Bob Maclin and Richard Switzer — have been quite accommodating. Is there a way to find out about others who served with Wilhelm?
