Brother seeks information
My brother, Pfc. Howard D. Sorenson, was in Co. B of the 324th Engineers Battalion under the command of Capt. Kay B. Gowan. He was killed on March 5, 1945, while working on a bridge near Gohre, Germany. Prior to March 1 he was in Company B, 1st Platoon of the 394th under 1st Lt. Sterling Potter. He wrote once he had become friends with a man only known as "Shorty."
Howard had a wife and daughter when he was drafted in the summer of 1944. His second daughter was born Nov. 25, 1944, two days after he returned to duty from his only leave.
Our home down is Penn Yan NY. If anyone knew my brother or the details of that time I would very much appreciate hearing from you.
