Harper needs information to get copy of service record

Veteran needs information

Donald W. Harper, M/394, is attempting to get a copy of his service record. He has contacted his congressman but they have been unable to find his records.

He received numerous medals and awards during the war and would like to have the supporting paperwork. He served in the Army from May 13, 1943, to November 1945, and re-enlisted numerous times until retirement in 1974.

He entered combat on Dec. 13, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. He fought mostly in Belgium and Germany. At the end of the war he was either in Czechoslovakia or on the German/Czech border.

His uniform and medals were stolen in the 1970s and all his medals have not yet been replaced by the U.S. Army.

If anyone has information or possible directions for him to follow he would be most appreciative.

He can be contacted by writing to Donald Harper, in care of Mark R. Kollhoff, PO Box 220, Ashtabula OH 44005-0220.
