I went and filed for mine on Dec. 6. Today, Dec. 14, I received an Authorization for Issuance of Awards dated Dec. 9. The form stated that if you do not receive these items within 90 days forward a copy to the Philadelphia address provided.

     I found out while I was there that the Army decided not to handle this activity three years ago and gave it to the Record Center. In February 1999 the Record Center established the Army Medals Section and started working on a three-year backlog.
