German searches for banner

My name is Hans Jürgen Prell. I am a member of the managing board of a rifle association called Bürgerschützenverein Eckum e.V., located in Rommerskirchen near Cologne. In two years we will celebrate our 75th jubilee. For this jubilee I am searching for things from the beginning of our association.

In the last months of World War II we lost our banner. A member of your association, Rex Whitehead, told me the 394th Regiment reached the Rhine in "Nivenheim-Gohr," which is very close to Rommerskirchen. Perhaps some of the veterans of the 99th who were in that area at that time may remember the banner.

I have a bad copy of an old photo of the banner. The only things you can see is a target and the sentence: "Bringt dem Schützen Ruhm und Ehr!"

I also have an old letter given to a citizen of Rommerskirchen, dated April 26, 1945, signed by Capt. Thomas M. Burriss, U.S. Army. The signature is not very good, so the name could be similar.

If any of your members have information about this banner I would appreciate hearing from them.
