FA Bn commander suffers from bad fall
The only surviving artillery battalion commander of the 99th Division is Lt. Col. Frank W. Mostek of Green Bay, WI.
The colonel, 93, commanded the 372nd FA Bn (155mm howitzers) during the war.
He recently suffered a bad fall and lost all the use of both legs and some of the use of his arms.
Col. Charles Biggio, Jr., who served as an officer under Mostek in Europe, said he was an admirable commander during combat. "We who served in the 372nd were fortunate indeed to have had his as our commander."
"The officers and men of the battalion salute you Colonel; and we wish you a speedy recovery," Biggio said.
