Eddie Polk suffers loss from Katrina

Eddie Polk, who owns and operates Battlefield Tours at Slidell LA, suffered a huge loss from the hurricane Katrina which ravaged the Gulf Coast in late August.

He and his wife Nancy, heeded early warnings and left before the devastating storm hit Slidell. They escaped by automobile, saving both cars, along with their dog, and a few personal belongings.

Their spacious new home was completely destroyed. It is beyond repair, Polk said. He believes they had full insurance coverage.

Many friends who are concerned about the Polks have called the Checkerboard. Bill Meyer and Donna Bernhardt are staying in touch with the Polks, who have rented a furnished apartment in Athens GA.

Eddie said he fully intends on operating another 99th tour, possibly in May. The tour will not only cover the Ardennes where the Battle of the Bulge will be examined, but also include a trip to Denmark.
