Diary is available

I was doing some research and found the Checkerboard website. Thought I would drop you a note.

My father, Capt. Mario Del Baglivo was a medical officer with 2nd Bn./393rd. I know that he was at Elsenborn during the Bulge, and was awarded two Bronze Stars for setting up an aid station on the German line during the battle.

Dad died in 1994 at 80 years of age. He had kept a diary of his experiences from approximately Dec. 4, 1944, until his evacuation on April 20, 1945. It is a remarkable document and I have begun to transcribe his rather difficult handwriting. The entry for Dec. 13, 1944, is nearly illegible, in sharp contrast to the 12th. With good reason of course, it begins "I have no time to write!"

I would like to make this transcript available to the division historian if there is one and would appreciate your help in this direction. Of course I would be very interested in hearing form any members who might have memories of my father.
