Thanks to the help from Stewart Boone and Frank Kawalek I've found a good copy of "Battle Babies," by Walter Lauer. It is the best history of the 99th I have seen yet.
I have one more favor to ask. I have a friend who served in the 99th at Elsenborn and other front line areas but at this moment, he can't recall if he was in the 394th or 395th. After a period of time in the Bulge and at Remagen, he later served with the 2nd Division.
His name is Charles Leslie Smith and he still lives in Allentown PA. I would like to hear from any members who live in this area and may have served with him. I am trying to write a local history of the Allentown area men who served in the 99th.
