Branson loves veterans
Bob Elsaesser, K/393, said he enjoyed the post-convention tour to Branson following the Kansas City reunion of the 99th.
He said the shows all contained a patriotic theme. And Bobby Vinton made an announcement that "men of the 99th Infantry Division" were in the audience. He asked them to stand and be recognized by a round of applause.
"If if wasn't for those men, doing what they did, we wouldn't be doing what we're doing today," Vinton told the audience.
Then the entire audience stood and sang, in unison, "God Bless America."
A "Dear Abby" column also called attention to the patriotic theme, stating "It's always Veterans Day at Branson."
Your Ol'Editor visited Branson a few weeks ago and was so impressed that he would like to see a 99th convention held there in two or three years.
