Belgian seeks name of 99th vet years ago
Paul Schmitz is a middle-aged Belgian who is seeking information on a 99th soldier who was stationed in the Elsenborn-Sourbrodt area of Belgium during December 1944 to February 1945.
He believes that man is Sergeant James R. Van Allen of the 324th Medical Battalion. He was assigned to a "sanitary unit."
Schmitz would like to hear from any person who might recall Van Allen or any soldier who recognizes the name.
