Ambulance driver receives birthday present

Enclosed you will find a check for a sheet of stickers and license tag, if still available. If not, put the money in the expense account.

I was one of the ambulance drivers in B/324th Medical Detachment and was almost captured Dec. 17, 1944, in the Ardennes near Murringen and Krinkelt.

I also was one of the first 99th ambulances to cross the bridge at Remagen and made it to the end unscratched. The ambulance was not so lucky. She had more than 100 holes in it by the end of the war. It is very easy for me to remember the end of World War II as that is my birthday. It was the best birthday present anyone could get.
