99'ers attend WWII Memorial dedication years ago
Checkerboard editor Bill Meyer, retired Lt. Col. Samuel Lombardo, retired Col. Charles P. Biggio Jr., Checkerboard Chorus trumpeter Stewart Boone, and James Strawder were among the thousands who attended the National World War II Memorial dedication May 29 in Washington, D.C. Other members of the 99th Infantry Division Association also were there, but names were not reported by press time.
Lombardo was interviewed by CNN News and that segment aired on national newscasts following President Bush's remarks at the dedication.
