My father’s name was Richard James McChesney and he was from Pittsburgh PA. He served in the 99th quartermaster Company and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Friends called him Jim or Mac.
He died in 1969, just a month after his 49th birthday. I was 16 at the time of his death, so he and I never had a conversation about his war experiences. I do know that he was proud of his service, as he should have been, and stayed in touch with a number of his buddies until his death.
He and my mother, Nelda Hartz McChesney, attended many reunions of the 99th Infantry Division. To this day, I still have memorabilia of the 99th Division and World War II that he had saved. I’m wondering if there is anyone out there who might remember my dad. If so, I’d love to hear from them.
