The meeting of the new board of directors was called to order by President Herb Knapp.

Those attending included Knapp, J.R. McIlroy, Jesse Coulter, B.O. Wilkins, H.C. Sullivan, Phil Benefiel, Donna Bernhardt and guest Herm Saunders.

The new “friends and family” organization met during the convention. Associate member George Bissette will accept comments and contact from interested individuals. The next step is to see whether there is enough interest and whether people are willing to provide the resources to sustain the new organization. See report of the meeting elsewhere in this issue of the Checkerboard.

President Knapp recommended trying to find members who had fought in the Battle of the Bulge and make them “members in perpetuity” in the association. He said he realized this would reduce revenue, but would bestow honor and recognize those members in a special way.

Donna Bernhardt was directed to obtain information a convention site for 2010.
