New association to be discussed at St. Louis

Families, friends and veterans of the 99th Infantry Division Association will meet June 25 during the 60th annual convention at the St. Louis Marriott West, St. Louis MO, to discuss the organization of a new 99th Infantry association.

Many people have asked about the future of the current association and how the 99th veterans will be honored and remembered. This meeting will give those interested an opportunity to express opinions and ideas. The purpose of a new organization would be to help maintain continuity and communication of the 99th. Membership would be open to family, friends and others interested in the veterans of the 99th Infantry Division.

The present association will be dissolved upon the death of the actual veterans.

George, Lawrence and Kenneth Bissette brought the idea before the board of directors in August 2008, at the 59th annual convention in Kansas City MO. The Bissettes requested and received the board’s approval and potential support in developing a new “99th Infantry Family and Friends” organization. Access to legal counsel and accounting expertise were offered if interest develops.

Those with questions or interest in the new association are encouraged to attend the meeting at St. Louis or contact George Bissette, bissette@triad.rr.com or Donna Bernhardt, donna@99div.com.
